What do I need to use the Electric Jukebox?

All you need is a television with a HDMI port, broadband connection with at least 2Mbps speed and an available power source to plug the device in.

Do I need a Smart TV?

No, it doesn't need to be a Smart TV, any TV with a HDMI port will be fine.

How many tracks can I find on my Electric Jukebox?

There are millions of tracks within the Electric Jukebox catalogue and this is constantly being updated with new & exciting music for you to explore.

How often does the music catalogue get updated?

The Electric Jukebox music catalogue is updated every day with the latest releases.

Do I need to enter personal details on device setup?

No personal details are needed at all. All you need to enter is your Wi-Fi network password and you're ready to go!

Do I need to provide a credit card?

You can pay for the Electric Jukebox by debit or credit card but we wont retain your card details. When you buy the Electric Jukebox you will get a one year premium music pass included. Once this expires the Jukebox will switch to a free service with adverts and some reduced service. You will then have the option to purchase a further annual pass to continue enjoying the full functionality of the Electric Jukebox.

Can I listen to music through external speakers?

Yes, you can listen to music through external speakers via your TV by using a 3.5mm audio lead - simply plug one end into the stick and the other into your speakers.

Which countries is the Electric Jukebox available?

The Electric Jukebox is currently available in the UK but more countries will be added shortly!

How long does the battery last on the controller?

The controller will last approximatley 20 hrs before needing a charge. When the light on the controller starts flashing at 1 second intervals it's time to give it a charge.

Can the Electric Jukebox be used with a A/V receiver?

Yes. The Electric Jukebox utilises HDMI so will plug into an A/V receiver. You can also ultilise the 3.5mm audio line out to connect to external speakers.

What quality is the music streamed at?

The default codec streamed to the Electric Jukebox is 320kbps AAC. A small (and diminishing) percentage of the catalogue does not have 320kbps and for this we fall back to 160kbps AAC.

Do I pay for each album or song I listen to?

No, this is included within the cost of the premium music pass. A 1 year music pass is included in the initial purchase price.

Can I use the Electric Jukebox offline?

No, the Electric Jukebox is not available to use offline and will need to be connected to the internet at all times to be used.

What happens after the 1 year music pass ends?

At the end of your first year you can purchase a further 1-year Premium Music Pass from Electric Jukebox for £52 (online or via your TV) to continue full access to all Electric Jukebox features including on-demand search and play, curated music channels, charts and celebrity mixtapes with no ads. If you choose not to buy a pass, you will continue to have full access to Electric Jukebox existing curated music channels and charts but with adverts and no on-demand access to music.

What is HDMI?

The Electric Jukebox requires a television that has a HDMI input, which is a standard connection included on most televisions sold in the last 8 years or so. HDMI stands for High-Denition Multimedia Interface.

Troubleshooting

How do I connect to the internet?

When your Jukebox starts up for the first time you will be given the option to scan for your Wi-Fi network. Once selected, enter your Wi-Fi password using the controller and away you go!

How do I turn on the stick?

Ensure the stick is connected to the AC adaptor. Once plugged in the stick will turn on automatically and it will remain on. When your TV goes on standby the stick will also go on standby.

How do I turn on the controller?

Simply push the OK button to turn the controller on. It will vibrate to tell you it has woken up! If left unused for 15 minutes or more, it will automatically go into sleep mode to save the battery.

How do I turn off the Controller?

You should never have to do this as it will automatically go into a sleep mode if you leave it still for 15 minutes. However, If you press and hold the back and microphone button it will go to sleep.

How can I switch the TV input?

Once plugged in the Electric Jukebox should automatically turn on your TV and switch to the correct channel. If this functionality isn’t activated on your TV, use the TV remote to manually switch between TV inputs using the source or AV buttons. If unsure, please refer to your TV manual for instructions.

How do I charge the controller?

Simply plug it into the micro USB provided. The controller takes approximately 2hrs to fully charge.

Why are certain tracks not available to play?

This is because of licencing or publishing restrictions. Our music catalogue is being continuously updated so please check in the future.

Why do tracks stutter when streaming?

Your streaming service is reliant on the broadband service you have. As a minimum you will need 2Mbps broadband speed otherwise you may struggle to stream to content.

How can I report broken tracks or albums?

If you experience a continuous problem please let customer support know and we will look in to the issue for you.

Why is my controller unresponsive and difficult to control?

Your battery may be getting flat, if the light on the controller is flashing, please charge it. Alternative RF devices (I.E. Bluetooth) may also interfere with the controller. Check to see if you have any Bluetooth devices nearby that could be interfering. Make sure you are not too far from the TV, the range for effective use is approximately 7 metres, with clear line of sight.

I find it difficult to navigate using the controller.

Is the battery running low on the controller? This is indicated by both an on-screen prompt and a flashing LED light on the controller itself. If it is, give it a charge and this should resolve the problem.

Nothing happens when I plug in my Electric Jukebox. What should I do?

When you plug the device into your TV, it may automatically switch to the necessary channel to play the Electric Jukebox. If it doesn’t, you will need to change the source on your TV using the source button. Also, make sure it is fully plugged into the AC adapter and the HDMI port in your TV. It may be beneficial to use the HDMI extender cable within the box if space is tight behind your TV.

I cant see the cursor on my TV screen!

It would apear your controller has become unpaired from the HDMI stick in the back of your TV. To pair them is very simple. Wake the controller by pushing the OK button. Then press and hold the pause & microphone buttons together for around 5/6 seconds. The controller should vibrate and the cursor appear on the TV.

Setting up your Electric Jukebox

How do I connect to the internet?

When the Jukebox starts up for the first time you will be given the option to connect to your Wi-Fi and enter your Wi-Fi password.

Where can I find my Wi-Fi password?

Usually this is found on the back of your broadband router.

I've lost my Wi-Fi password, can I connect in any other way?

Unfortunately not, please contact your Internet provider for assistance.

Do I need to provide a credit card?

No - when you buy the Electric Jukebox you will get a one year premium music pass. Once this expires the Jukebox will switch to a free service with adverts and some reduced functionality. You will then have the option to purchase a further annual pass to continue enjoying the full functionality of the Electric Jukebox.

How do I know if my television has a HDMI port?

The vast majority of flat-screen TV's will be HDMI enabled. To verify, take a look at the inputs on the back or side of the TV and you should see them listed as HDMI.

Will this work on my laptop or desktop computer?

No, as the HDMI on your laptop/desktop machine is for output only, not for input.

When does my 12 month streaming subscription start?

Your subscription will start as soon as you have accepted the terms & conditions on the opening screen upon first start up.

Why can’t I find my wireless listed in the list of networks when setting up my device?

Ensure that your TV is in range of your wireless router, and try using the HDMI extender as this may prevent any interference from your television.

Do I need to enter personal details on device setup?

No, all you need to enter is your wireless details and you're ready to go.

Can I use any micro USB to charge the controller?

Most micro USB's will charge the device, however use them at your own risk, we recommend using the charging cable and adaptor provided.

Is it safe to leave the stick plugged in all the time?

Yes, this will be fine.

How do I pair a different Controller from another Stick?

Hold down the 'OK' button and the microphone button at the same time to unpair, the LED will then flash rapidly after 5 seconds. Then pair by holding down the pause button and the microphone button at the same time until the controller vibrates.

What does the rapidly flashing white light on my controller mean?

This means that the device is currently in pairing mode. To get out of this mode, pair by holding down the pause button and the microphone button at the same time until the controller vibrates.

Can I listen to music through external speakers?

Yes, you can listen to music through external speakers by using a 3.5 MM audio lead - plug one end into the stick and the other into your speakers.

How do I switch the TV input?

If the Jukebox doesn't automatically start up and switch channel, use the TV remote to manually switch between TV inputs using the source or AV buttons

Can I use the Electric Jukebox with a projector?

Technically, yes. If the projector has an HDMI input then this should work.

Why does explicit content still show when I have the settings turned on?

We set the explicit flag and filter content based on information provided by the labels when they deliver the music. This data is the same as used to mark physical CDs with explicit, but it is not perfect. If you feel that a track is missing an explicit flag please let us know, and we will notify the labels, who may change the designation and resend the catalogue record to us if they agree with the concern.

Using your Electric Jukebox

How do I search for music?

There are two ways to search for music. One way is by using a voice search - you can do this by pressing the microphone button and saying the artist or song you wish to listen to. The second way is a text search, first click on 'text search' and then type in the song or artist you wish to listen to.

How do I play music?

Select the play button that appears when you hover over the track by pressing the ‘OK’ button on your controller.

What is ‘My Music’?

My Music is a place to store all your favourite tracks which can be easily accessed at any time. You can also create your own mixtapes within this section.

How do i add a track to a mixtape?

When hovering over a track you will see a '+' symbol. Click on this and you will be given the option to create a new mixtape or to add it to an existing mixtape.

How do I favourite music?

To favourite music, hover over the track or album and then click on the heart that appears. If you are on a track listing the heart will automatically appear as you hover over the track name. This will then be saved within ‘My Music’

How can i remove explicit content?

From the Home page, click on the settings icon in the top right of the screen. Here you will see 'Explicit Content Filter' and select the toggle

How do i change the visualisers i am seeing?

The visualiser packs can be changed or randomised via the 'Now Playing' screen. To bring up the Now Playing screen, click on the up arrow at the bottom of the screen. You will then see an eye symbol. Select this to be taken to the different visualisers available. Click on your preferred option and it will start showing within a few seconds.

How do i stop the visualiser from showing at all?

The visualiser can be turned off within the settings page.

How long does it take to charge the controller?

The controller takes approximately 2hrs to fully charge.

How long does the controller last for before needing a charge?

The controller will last approximately 24hrs of constant use before needing a charge.

I've already set up my Electric Jukebox. How can I change the Wi-Fi network my Electric Jukebox is connected to?

Hit the settings button in the top right corner of the home page and then select ‘Wi-Fi’ from the list. You can then press ‘Disconnect’ and you will be given a list of the available networks. If your network isn’t shown, simply click the ‘Refresh’ button.

How does my Electric Jukebox receive updates?

The device will be updated via over the air updates which will be sent to the device. A notification will be sent to your device to advice you.

Can I use the Electric Jukebox offline?

No, the Electric Jukebox is not available to use offline and will need to be connected to the internet at all times to be used.

Every time i turn on my TV, it changes source to show the Electric Jukebox - how can i stop this?

This feature varies depending on TV manufacturer. To stop this from happening, go to the Settings page and turn off the 'Easy Setup' option.

Can I control the volume with the controller provided?

No, you should adjust the volume using your TV remote control. You can however pause the playback with the controller if you need to stop the music.

What happens at the end of the first year?

My Electric Jukebox is broken – what do I do?

First try the troubleshooting options as it may be something simple that is causing the problem. If that doesn’t work give our customer service department a call on 0207 0992751 and they will be able to assist you further.

How do I return the Electric Jukebox?

If you need to return your Electric Jukebox, you have two options. If you purchased from a retailer, please contact them directly with your proof of purchase to manage the return/exchange. What warranty comes with the product?

The Electric Jukebox comes with a warranty for a period of one year from the date of purchase
